What is the headhunter agency? Headhunter refers to a company, agent, or personal service who provides employee consultations and recruitment for strategic roles such as in the areas of managerial or the level C-suite.

Headhunter Agency vs. Human Resource Department

The term of the headhunter agency is often associated with the human resource department (HRD). However, both of them have different positions. The headhunter is a specialist in recruiting employees with advanced and specific skills. Meanwhile, HRD is responsible to fulfill the empty roles or positions in all of the departments or divisions in the company.

The headhunter agency is also hired by the company. This way, the company takes the role of the client of the agency. Sure, it means it works with the client’s satisfaction as the main orientation. The company may also mention some requirements of how its new employee should look like. Then, the headhunter tries its best to fulfill the request of the client.

It works independently

Although it looks like a headhunter agency that works for companies, it actually independently stands on its own. So, the agency also has its own rules and ethical codes which the client must understand also. A good and credible headhunter agency may have clients from big companies not only in a country but also all around the world. Besides, it can also conduct long-term cooperation with the companies as an agent and its clients.

The “Hijacking” System

The people in the human resource department (HRD) may work “legally” in recruiting employees. Yes, it is because they also have a duty to keep the company’s image good. This is the opposite of the headhunter agency. When working, the agents may hijack top employees from other companies and persuade them to move to the client’s company.

That’s why, the agency may work under the radar and for some realms in the area of companies and business, how it works seems to be illegal. Of course, it means the agents have persuasion skills that may not be had by the employees in the company. It is not exaggerating if the headhunter agents are commonly paid a high salary.

The Consultation Session

Yes, a company that becomes the client may bring their own requirements to obey by the agent regarding how the employee must be. But at the same time, it also works as an advisor for the client to get the best employee. And the client indeed must admit that the agent is really good at that matter.
